Monthly Donations Make The Difference Between A Home And Alone.
People hear about dogs being rescued and think they are safe. Unfortunately, that’s often not the case. Many of these animals don’t know how to behave in a home, on a walk, or even around other dogs. So they languish in cages hoping for a chance – that’s where we come in.
The dogs need your help to continue our work – we need consistent funds to do our work. A monthly donation that equals less than a cup of coffee a day can save the lives of many beautiful dogs. And remember, donations are tax deductible!
Please consider being a monthly donor to help train rescue dogs across metro-Detroit!

TRUTH
We were informed about Truth by one of our dedicated volunteers.
She knew the people that owned him. They no longer wanted him and were going to put him on Craig's List - the most dangerous place for a dog like him. Scrambling into action, she got the people to hold off and immediately got him into the BLCC program. He went back with his owners for a short while, and began to lose weight penned in their yard. So BLCC and his personal rescuer got busy fast. Fortunately, he was adopted by a wonderful family with two great pack leaders. He's up to a good weight and is now the official love of their lives.

TYSON
This lovely boy had the same family for 10 years and served them faithfully. One day, they decided he was no longer convenient to their life. Their solution was to have him put down! Many concerned people scrambled - and many concerned people donated to his training and placement. Well, thanks to all of you he was just adopted by a wonderful lady who is going to make the rest of his life the bestest ever! Hooray for Tyson!
KIRBY
We received a call from one of our previous adopters. She saw a photo of a little "pink" puppy, stuck in a shelter and getting completely overlooked because he had mange. She saved him, named him Kirby, and began the process to help heal his skin and his soul with socialization through BLCC. He's all healed, and has been adopted by a great family and he even has his own kids!! Kirby is a huge part of everything they do and he loves it.
REILLY
Reilly was saved from the Allegan Shelter on her last day. She came to the shelter with cropped ears that had been cut with scissors and an acid burn on top of her head. We have no idea how terrible her life must have been, but we do know that it did not break Reilly's spirit!
She was a volunteer favorite and they reached out to rescues before it was too late for this very sweet, affectionate girl. BLCC stepped in and since then, Reilly's wounds have all healed and she's been adopted by a very caring, calm women and she has a little Yorkshire Terrier brother as well. She is living the calm, trusting, loved, blessed life she deserves.

MILKY
Little Milky was surrendered to us by his former owners. Milky had a terrible flea infestation and ear infections. He was incredibly uncomfortable and therefore did not like to be touched. His former owners relegated him to a cage in the basement... all alone! Luckily Brenda heard about Milky and took over!
He was surrendered and healed! We later found out that Milky had a degenerative back disorder as well. Poor little guy was in a great deal of pain. He's since had surgery and Milky's life could not be better!! He is a happy little guy that likes to run around the house with the other big dogs in his pack. He is very loved and treated with great care.

TROOPER
One day BLCC got a call, like so many others rescues get on every day, all year long. A stray was frequently visiting a machine shop yard in Detroit. He was fearful, but some of the workers, Joe and Jim, befriended him. Then they heard that some of the other workers planned to shoot him and throw him in the river! They were frantic to get him out of there and made contact with us many times for help.
Fortunately, they were able to catch him and we scheduled an appointment for him at our vet's office. He had a number of chemical burns and was incredibly skinny (photo). Everything changed the day they saved him. We gave him a name, Trooper, healed his wounds, helped him gain weight, and taught him how wonderful it was to live in a home! Trooper has been adopted and has a doggie brother to share his days with.
